Teen Resource Research

Research plays an important role in framing the strategies Boston Beyond pursues.  In 2006, Boston Beyond conducted preliminary research to get a better understanding of the available resources that focused on serving youth. The research included program, budget and finance scans to evaluate the capacities of the various systems serving teens, the cost of program growth, and the funding sources that many be able to support significant growth in the field.

This research, along with other seminal research as well as extensive interaction with the out-of-school time organizations, foundations and educational systems serving Boston youth provided the direction for the goals and strategies of the Teen Initiative -- to focus on youth most likely to drop out of high school.

Developing Teen Organization Networks

RFP: Teen Initiative Network Grants

Round 1 Grantees are developing their organizational networks aimed at providing coordinated direct services to youth, especially those youth most likely to drop out of high school.  They met recently to discuss the benefits and challenges associated with creating networks and to provide feedback to the Teen Initiative Planning Team. Summary of the notes on the May 30th meeting.
