About the Teen Initiative

The Teen Initiative is a collaboration led by Boston Beyond with the Boston Public Schools, the City of Boston, community-based out-of-school time (OST) youth development programs, and workforce development organizations to increase the the scale, quality and coordination of youth development opportunities for teens after school and teen at workduring the summer. The initiative places special emphasis on increasing year-round access to high-quality work-based programs for youth most likely to drop out of high school.

By increasing the scale, quality and coordination of OST programs for teens, the Teen Initiative is contributing to a growing movement within the City to improve the engagement of struggling youths, increase the high school graduation rate and improve the job and college readiness of those graduates.

The Teen Initiative pursues its goals by promoting collaborative program models, pursuing significant funding sources and better linking the diverse programs and services available to Boston’s youth.
