Every mile, every Volunteer hour, every dollar counts.

Join us this year for an annual tradition that has become more important than ever. The 2009 Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 3, 2009 is an annual rite of spring in the Commonwealth. People from all walks of life come together for one day to demonstrate their commitment to ending hunger in Massachusetts. This year, we need your help more than ever.

With the economy struggling, many families are finding it difficult to put food on the table—many for the first time. They are forced to go make decision between food and rent, utility, and medical bills. Many are turning for help to Project Bread and the four hundred emergency food programs we fund through The Walk for Hunger.  The demand for emergency food has never been greater with pantries and meal programs supported by Project Bread serving 43.4 million meals last year alone. Hunger is not just an urban problem — it exists in nearly every community throughout the state.

About Last Year's Walk

In 2008, over 40,000 generous supporters braved rainy weather to take part in Project Bread’s 40th Walk for Hunger. Walkers of all ages from a spectrum of economic circumstances participated in this event dedicated to feeding hungry people. They raised over $4 million, an amazing success.
