Position Description

Join the Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention (AIP), a private non-profit agency working with at-risk children and youth in Boston (www.aipinc.org). We are seeking a culturally competent therapist with strong family therapy skills to be part of a team of therapists implementing Multisystemic Therapy (MST) in Boston. MST is a well-researched evidence-based treatment model directed at youth with serious behavioral difficulties and their family. Caseloads are kept very small (5-6) in order to do very intensive family work. Interested persons may locate information about this treatment model on the internet at www.mstservices.com .

Duties include liaison with collaborating agencies, and providing 3 times per week home-based family counseling with a strong emphasis upon increasing parenting skills related to directiveness, affective warmth, and increased child monitoring. Additional focus is on engaging youth in positive peer relationships and prosocial activities related to their interests and talents. All of these elements are shown to result in better outcomes and lasting improvements.

Intensive training in the MST model and ongoing supervision will be provided. Specific experience in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy and behaviorally-based marital and drug treatment therapy is very helpful. Spanish fluency sufficient to conduct therapy is required. Therapist must have reliable transportation.

MSW or MA in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, Family Therapy, or related field required, plus a minmum of 2 years post-Master's experoience. LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT licensure in MA is required. Must be able to work some evenings to provide family therapy services. Full-Time, 12 months position, salary mid to high $40s depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits. Laptop computer and cell phone provided. Position begins when filled.
