About Peace Games

Peace Games was founded in 1992 on the belief that young people have the power and responsibility to change the world. It is an innovative school-based violence prevention/social-emotional learning program that teaches students in grades K thru 8 to be peacemakers. The unique Peace Games approach engages whole school communities—families, teachers, volunteers, and students—to teach lessons of cooperation, communication and conflict resolution using games and community service projects. About the Position

This is a crucial position during a time of ambitious growth for Peace Games. The Executive Assistant will work closely with the President on a range of projects, including fundraising and board development, information management, correspondence, and scheduling. This position is responsible for leveraging the President’s time and energy to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, including the following: doing rapid triage on incoming information, serving as a gracious and helpful point person for board members and key supporters, and securing and organizing meetings and trips. Applicants must be comfortable managing several tasks simultaneously, must have strong writing and phone skills, and must be able to work independently, as well solve problems creatively. This position reports directly to the President/Co-Founder, Eric Dawson, but will interact with the entire organization keeping information flowing and generating the good will necessary to move the organization forward in its mission.

Responsibilities

1. Managing systems to keep the President organized, using both paper and electronic systems (maintaining systems of communication, contact/correspondence records, scheduling, etc.)
2. Scheduling and trip management (securing vital meetings, preparing materials, and organizing logistics)
3. Written and verbal communication on behalf of the President (writing letters, answering phone calls, and serving as a representative of the President and Peace Games)
4. Project management, examples include: Preparation for Board of Directors meetings (schedule and prepare materials for meetings), study trips for colleagues from abroad, research and writing
5. Being a member of the Peace Games community (interactions with other staff, serving as a link between Eric and the staff, support range of organizational projects)

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Excellent time management skills
• Independent worker and thinker who also possesses the ability to ask questions to better define projects
• Maturity and grace at managing complex relationships and interactions with diverse groups of people
• Patience, flexibility and a good sense of humor
• 3 - 5 years professional experience with related work (customer service, administrative support, research and writing)
• BA or equivalent is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office Applications (especially Outlook and Word)

Compensation

We hope to fill this position by February 15. Candidates with less work experience but a hunger for growth are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with experience. We expect to hire this positition in the mid to high $30's. Peace Games offers a generous benefits package.
